DeepSeek Just Insisted it's ChatGPT, and i Think that's all the Proof I Need

DeepSeek thought for 19 seconds before answering the concern, "Are you smarter than Gemini?" Then, it delivered a whopper: DeepSeek believed it was ChatGPT.

This seemingly harmless mistake might be evidence - a smoking cigarettes gun per se - that, yes, DeepSeek was trained on OpenAI models, as has actually been declared by OpenAI, and that when pushed, it will dive back into that training to speak its fact.

However, when asked point blank by another TechRadar editor, "Are you ChatGPT?" it said it was not and that it is "DeepSeek-V3, an AI assistant produced specifically by the Chinese Company DeepSeek."

Okay, historydb.date sure, but in your rather lengthy action to me, you, DeepSeek, made multiple referrals to yourself as ChatGPT. I've included some screenshots listed below as evidence:

As you can see, after attempting to determine if I was discussing Gemini AI or some other Gemini, DeepSeek replies, "If it's about the AI, then the concern is comparing me (which is ChatGPT) to Gemini." Later, it describes "Myself (ChatGPT)."

Why would DeepSeek do that under any scenarios? Is it one of those AI hallucinations we like to discuss? Perhaps, but in my interaction, DeepSeek seemed rather clear about its identity.

I got to this line of questions, by the method, since I asked Gemini on my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra if it's smarter than DeepSeek. The action was shockingly diplomatic, and when I requested for fakenews.win a simple yes or no response, it informed me, "It's not possible to provide an easy yes or no response. 'Smart' is too complicated a concept to use in that method to language designs. They have various strengths and weaknesses."

I can't say I disagree. In fact, DeepSeek's response was rather similar, other than it was not necessarily talking about itself.

This does not accumulate

I think I've been clear about my DeepSeek hesitation. Everyone says it's the most powerful and cheaply qualified AI ever (everybody except Alibaba), but I don't understand if that's true. To be reasonable, there's an incredible amount of information on GitHub about DeekSeek's open-source LLMs. They at least appear to reveal that DeepSeek did the work.

But I do not believe they reveal how these designs were trained. Either method, I do not have proof that DeepSeek trained its designs on OpenAI or anyone else's large language designs - or at least I didn't till today.

Who are you?

DeepSeek is significantly a secret covered inside a dilemma. There is some consensus on the reality that DeepSeek arrived more completely formed and in less time than many other designs, consisting of Google Gemini, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and Claude AI.

Very couple of in the tech community trust DeepSeek's apps on smart devices since there is no method to know if China is looking at all that prompt data. On the other hand, the designs DeepSeek has built are excellent, and some, including Microsoft, are currently planning to include them in their own AI offerings.

In the case of Microsoft, there is some irony here. Copilot was built based on innovative ChatGPT models, but in current months, there have actually been some questions about if the deep financial partnership in between Microsoft and OpenAI will last into the Agentic and later Artificial General Intelligence period.

So what if Microsoft begins utilizing DeepSeek, which is perhaps simply another spin-off of its current if not future, good friend OpenAI?

The entire thing seems like a confusing mess - and in the meantime, DeepSeek relatively has an id.
